Good Evening Burbank Bulldogs,

This is Dr. Crowther with announcements for the week ahead.

As you no doubt have heard, Burbank Unified School District announced last Monday what we will open the 2020-2021 school year with distance learning. We join most of the State in preparing for this reality. While some details are still being finalized, I assure you that the model being crafted through committees and negotiations will be drastically improved from the efforts last spring. In the weeks ahead, we will be giving updates to households. Please note the following opportunities:

Tomorrow, July 20, 2020 I will host my first “Coffee with Crowther” through a series of Zoom sessions. I will do my best to answer questions that parents have, please come as your schedules allow. Please note that each session has a cap of 100 Zoom guests.

Due to COVID-19, we will be holding our annual orientation and registration virtually this year. Counselors report back to work on July 27, and there will be several methods that students can contact their counselor regarding their schedule for next year.

General Information:

* We ask that all families complete the Parent Data Confirmation (PDC) prior to virtual registration. Information will be sent to families from the District and school regarding how to complete the PDC process, which will begin on July 20t.

* On July 29, all students will have access to view their course requests via their AERIES portal account. Course requests are the classes that were chosen and do not include teacher names or specific class periods during the school day.

* Students should review these course requests carefully and should then contact their counselor if they see an issue. Counselors will be working remotely most days; we will be communicating alternative ways to reach counselors other than their phone extensions. This includes opportunities for brief Zoom sessions beginning August 3. More information will be distributed shared on our website starting July 27, 2020.

*A 9th grade presentation that would typically be presented at a “9th Grade Parent Night” will instead be released on our website on August 5.

This concludes announcements for the week ahead. Remember to be responsible, respectful and compassionate Bulldogs by practicing social distancing, wearing a mask whenever out in public and doing what we can to increase the likelihood we will be able to open our physical campus sooner rather than later. Thank you.
