August 2021

Dear MHS Families,

We continue to gear up and get ready for the start of the school year. We are excited to welcome you back!

The next month will be a busy transition as students return to campus full-time. I want to make sure you are aware of some key events and updates regarding the opening of school:

Parent Data Confirmation Instructions:

The parent data confirmation process must be completed for all returning Burbank Unified School District (BUSD) students as soon as possible. Instructions can be found here:

Registration Help (August 5th and 6th)

The registration process can be done virtually, but it helps to have a time, space, and some help. Therefore, this Thursday and Friday (8/5 and 8/6), from 9 am - 2 pm, our computer lab will be open and our office team will be available to assist any families who have not yet completed their registration process.

New Family Orientation:

This Friday, at 9 am in the Monterey Cafeteria, we will have new student/family orientation. We want to make your transition to Monterey, and your return to school this year as smooth as possible. If you are new, we strongly encourage you to attend. Please let us know if you plan to attend by filling out this quick form.

Class Schedules:

All students will receive their class schedules and textbooks on the first day of school. If changes need to be made, students will have access to a sign-up form to meet with our Assistant Principal, April Weaver.

Chromebook Update

Our district plans on providing Chromebooks to all students this year. More information about this topic including a timeline for distribution will be coming soon.

Free Lunch for All Students This Year:

For the 2021-2022 school year ALL students can eat FREE in the cafeteria. More information can be found here Burbank Unified School District - School Nutrition And Fitness ( including the benefits of filling out a Meal Application

Health and Safety Update from Superintendent Dr. Matt Hill:

The health and safety of our students remain our number one priority. We continue to work closely with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) to implement their guidelines. We will provide additional details and updates about the safety measures we have implemented as we get closer to the start of school. In the meantime, here are some of the key highlights and current plans

I hope you have a wonderful last few days of summer break.
