Superintendent's Update: 9.8.21
September 8, 2021
Dear BUSD Students, Families, and Employees:
As we continue to implement safety measures to keep students and employees safe we all must do our part. Please see some updates and reminders below that are essential for keeping students in school.
BUSD Mandatory Employee Vaccinations
At the September 2 Board Meeting, the Board of Education adopted a resolution stating that all BUSD employees must be vaccinated by October 22 unless they have a legal exemption. You may read the full resolution by clicking HERE.
Student and Parent Vaccinations
For those who are eligible, the number one thing we can do is get vaccinated. Please get vaccinated as soon as possible. For students who are 12 years and older, if you are vaccinated you do not have to quarantine if you are identified as a close contact and you are not showing symptoms.
BUSD strongly encourages you to participate in weekly testing and will continue to provide free testing for students and staff. COVID-19 testing is an essential part of keeping our schools safe and will help stop the spread of the virus. We want to remind parents that we will only notify families and staff members of a positive test result. You may review the weekly results by clicking HERE. In addition, those who have been in close contact with a positive individual will also be notified. To register for weekly testing please click HERE
For everyone's protection, if you or your student has COVID-19 symptoms, please stay at home and do not return to school until you receive a negative test result. Symptoms include fever greater than 100.4° F, chills, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, headache, new loss of smell or taste, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, body aches, fatigue, runny nose, congestion.
If you have any questions, please email Re-openingSchool@burbankusd.org
We appreciate your cooperation and assistance in helping us protect our students and staff.
