School is CLOSED until further notice

Good afternoon,

This is Principal Young with your upcoming weekly news blast for Monday, March 30 to Friday, April 3, 2020.

I hope you all are doing well, staying home and keeping yourselves healthy and safe. As we have been ordered to stay home during this pandemic COVID-19 challenging situation, I hope you all are taking time and focusing on what is most important in your family.  These are opportunities to slow down and do things that you normally would not accomplish, due to life's busy and hectic schedules.  My sons have learned to bake and clean up their dishes!  We have also played board games and worked on puzzles, and these are things that have been sitting in our hallway closet for a LONG TIME!  I hope you all are getting out on family bike rides and walks too.  Just remember to stay distant from others as we need to SLOW the SPREAD!

As my last email from Dr. Matt Hill explained, we are moving into Distance Learning or paper packets, beginning the week of April 6th.  Our teachers are VIRTUALLY coming back to work on Monday, March 30th for training and preparation.  They miss all of your children so much!  Next week, your child's teacher(s) will be contacting you, via email or some type of way to know what we can do to support your child with Distance Learning.   A Burbank Unified School District survey has gone out, both email and phone call.  Please make sure you answer those questions.  In a couple of weeks, I will have an app on my computer that will be able to answer the school's telephone.  As of now, please email me at brandiyoung@burbankusd.org, if you have any questions or concerns.

We must follow "Safer at Home" protocols from the California Department of Health, the Los Angeles County Office of Education as well as the Department of Education during this pandemic.  All of our schools are CLOSED.  We are all working from home.  This is a huge transition for all of us.  All State Testing (grades 3-12) has been cancelled by President Donald Trump.  Our District and Teachers are preparing to offer 8 weeks of comprehensive distance learning that meets the needs of all our students and staff in a flexible and supportive environment.  There will be mistakes, but best practices for all students will be our main focus.

Have a wonderful evening and upcoming week.  Please remember to stay home!

Warmly,

Principal Young
