Program Overview

Burbank Unified School District has 2 elementary music teachers who teach weekly GENERAL MUSIC CLASSES for all eleven (11) Burbank Elementary schools, 4th and 5th grade.

4th and 5th grade: 30-minute classes weekly

The general elementary music program is designed as sequential, standards-based music instruction that provides singing, movement, learning to read and write music, and playing simple rhythms on classroom instruments and ukulele. The objective is to provide students a well-rounded general music education, and to prepare them for the instrumental and music programs in middle and high schools.

Note: In addition to BUSD's General Music Classes (4th - 5th grade), schools have elected to offer supplemental visual and performing arts programs funded by PTA, Boosters, Burbank Arts for All Foundation, Burbank Education Foundation, and/or private donations.
