Reporting Student Absence
When a student is absent, a parent/guardian can either call the office or provide a written note to report the absence. When writing a note, the following information must be provided:
- Full Name of the student
- Date(s) of absence
- Reason for absence
- Teacher's name and room number
- Name and relationship of person writing the note (parent/guardian or parent representative)
- Date the note is written
All absences must be verified within three (3) days of returning to school.
For more information regarding attendance guidelines, please refer to the Burbank Unified School District Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians booklet. Please email or send a note to your childs teacher when your student is absent.
Admittance to School After Illness/Communicable Disease
To protect your child and other children, students returning to school following a communicable disease must be readmitted by a school nurse or a physician. Students returning with braces, crutches, a cast, stitches, ace bandage, or following a serious illness, injury or hospitalization may be readmitted only with the written consent of a physician. The physician's written consent should include any restrictions, including the number of days or the date that the child can be released. Along with the physician's written consent, a parent note should be sent with the returning student.
