Good evening, this is Dr. Miller, principal at John Muir Middle School with this week’s update.

The John Muir School Site Council will meet this Thursday at 3:10 in the library and all are welcome to attend.

Next Friday, October 6th will be Let’s Do Lunch for our 7th grade families. “Let’s Do Lunch” allows parents to come to school and have lunch with their child on Mustang Field. We are required to scan each parent and visitors’ ID to check it with the Megan’s Law database. Our list of scanned IDs is starting fresh this year so any 7th grade parent that plans on attending Let’s Do Lunch and did not have their ID scanned during registration, will need to come into the office sometime between now and next Thursday to have their ID scanned.

Finally, a reminder that we require doctor’s notes to be submitted within three days of an off-campus appointment in order for the absence to be excused.

This is the final week of the school year at Muir so please ensure that your child has turned in all of their textbooks and library books. Students should bring textbooks to the Media Center. The lost and found items will be placed in the front of the school after school on Tuesday and Wednesday.

For our 8th grade students, Tuesday and Wednesday will be promotion practice and Wednesday will be the promotion party. Thursday is Promotion for the 8th grade class. Promoting 8th grade students should be on the lower field by 8. Gates will open for attendees at 8:15 and the ceremony will begin at 9am sharp.

Thursday is also the last day of school for 6th and 7th grade students. It is a minimum day so school will start at 8 and students will be dismissed at 12:33.

Good evening, this is Dr. Miller, principal at John Muir Middle School with this week’s update.

Welcome to the last week of school. 6th and 7th grade students will have morning, virtual classes Monday through Thursday and for those that come on campus, 6th and 7th graders will have afternoon, in-person classes on Monday through Wednesday.

Today is the last day of classes both online and in the afternoon for 8th grade students. Textbook and Chromebook collection for 8th grade students will take place tomorrow and Wednesday. 8th grade families with Chromebooks should drive through our staff parking lot to drop off textbooks and Chromebooks tomorrow between 8:15 and 12. 8th grade students who do not have a school Chromebook can bring their books with them to Wednesday’s promotion practice. 7th grade drive thru textbook collection is next Tuesday, June 1 and 6th grade collection is next Wednesday, June 2. More details will be provided in the coming days.

Finally, if you ordered a yearbook for your child, but have yet to pick it up, please come by the main office this week to get your child’s copy.
