District Earthquake / Disaster Plan

The District's Disaster Preparedness Plan has been developed specifically for the personnel employed by the Burbank Unified School District . This group of administrators, certificated, and classified personnel have three important tasks to consider in the event of a disaster, which affects any or all of the schools and consequently the students in the Burbank Unified School District:

  1. To ensure the life safety of all persons on site in the Burbank Unified School District;
  2. Be ready to activate the District Disaster Plan; and
  3. Be ready to activate the Emergency Operations Center which will coordinate all District efforts.

Additionally, upon employment with the Burbank Unified School District , all employees are trained in disaster preparedness procedures. The District conducts two Disaster Drills per year and provides classes, workshops, and opportunities for ongoing training in compliance with the California Emergency Management System according to Government Code Section 8607.

Purpose

The purpose of the Burbank Unified School District Disaster Preparedness Plan is to prepare the District to respond to emergencies using the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS). In the District's interest to maintain the safety and care of students and staff, this plan outlines emergency roles and provides procedures for students and staff to ensure that staff and students are aware of and properly trained to follow, the District's plan in accordance with SEMS, and the emergency response procedures.
