  • NAF Expectations & Portfolio by Grade Level:

    9th Grade:

    1. Review DFS: reason & resources

    2. Review the NAF Code of Conduct and expectations - students & parents sign

    3. Academy students to join their NAF themed GC

    4. Academy students follow the NAF Instagram account for their school

    5. Informational interview in October - see NAF site for details

    6. Create a NAF folder in Google Drive - create sub folders for evidence

    7. Evaluate or create a professional Gmail account

    8. Create NAF Portfolio Google site and share with your BUSD account

      1. Create and complete the Home page of the portfolio

      2. Create the rest of the pages: About Me, Career Docs, Academy, and Work Experience

      3. Add 1 thing to the About Me page

      4. Create first draft of all 5 career docs and upload to the Career Doc page

      5. Add the mission statement, academy explanation, and freshman class course description

      6. Add the evidence for the freshman class and the second paragraph to the course description towards the end of the year

    9. Complete the NAF Grad Status form for 9th grade (semester grades & citizenship)

    10th Grade:

    1. Did you join NAF in 10th grade? NEW academy students who just joined should review the list above. You can partner with returning academy students for support.

    2. Review DFS

    3. Review NAF Code of Conduct and expectations - students & parents sign

    4. Academy students are members of their NAF themed GC

    5. Academy students follow the NAF Instagram account for your school

    6. Informational interview in October - see NAF site for details

    7. Portfolio: review the Home page and update/edit and replace photo if necessary

      1. Add 1 or more things to the About Me page

      2. Update/edit all 5 career docs

      3. Add the sophomore class(es) and course descriptions

      4. Add the evidence for the sophomore class(es) and the second paragraph to the course descriptions towards the end of the year

    8. Review the work experience modules and self assessments on the NAF site

    9. *Sophomores may begin their 80 required hours in the summer after 10th grade

    10. Complete the NAF Grad Status form for 10th grade (semester grades & citizenship)

     

    11th Grade:

    1. Did you join NAF in 11th grade? NEW academy students who just joined should review the lists above from 9th and 10th grade. You can partner with returning academy students for support.
    2. Informational interview in October - see NAF site for details

    3. Review DFS

    4. Review NAF Code of Conduct and expectations - students & parents sign

    5. Academy students are members of their NAF themed GC

    6. Academy students follow the NAF Instagram account for your school

    7. Portfolio: edit/update all the pages on your NAF site

      1. Confirm you have at least 3 entries on the About Me page and all include evidence

      2. Edit/update all 5 career docs

      3. Add the junior class(es) and course descriptions

      4. Add the evidence for the junior class(es) and the second paragraph to the course descriptions towards the end of the year

      5. Review the work experience modules and self assessments on the NAF site

    8. *Some juniors may begin their 80 required hours during the year or the summer after 11th grade.

    9. Complete the NAF Grad Status form for 11th grade (semester grades & citizenship)

    12th Grade:

    1. No students join senior year

    2. Review DFS

    3. Review NAF Code of Conduct and expectations - students & parents sign

    4. Academy students are members of their NAF themed GC

    5. Academy students follow the NAF Instagram account for your school

    6. Informational interview in October - see NAF site for details

    7. Portfolio: edit/Update ALL pages

      1. Create Work Experience/Internship page

      2. Work on all required documents and upload

      3. Publish link and share submit to your class GC for review with teacher (fall & spring)

    8. Use the checklist as you review to be sure you didn't miss any requirements

    9. Seniors must turn in published portfolio link to NAF GC by Friday before spring break

    10. Seniors must complete required work experience data & assessment form

    11. Seniors must complete the NAF Student Survey & provide their post HS plans

    12. Seniors must complete their NAF Grad Status form

    13. Seniors must purchase desired NAF grad items that they qualify for (stole/cord)
