BCDS Cell Phone / Electronic Device Policy
Phones may be used before and after school, and during nutrition/lunch. At all other times they should be silenced and put away. The goal of this policy is to increase time on task, which will result in increased work production and credit earning. The following device code will be enforced on a daily basis:
All cell phones will be collected in the front of school, first thing in the morning,
by classroom educators/staff and put away in a safe place. At the discretion of
the faculty, phones may be returned during school nutrition and/or lunch break. If
you, as a parent, do not wish for us to collect your child's phone, please do not
send them to school with one, and/or have a conversation with them to have their
devices put away in a backpack, purse, pocket, or other place where it is not visible
during instructional school hours. Devices would need to be off.
If the school does not see it, then there is no issue.
- No texting, phone calls, or social media during the instructional period.
- No charging your electronic devices during instructional period.
If students bring an electronic device, they do so at their own risk.
BCDS will not assume responsibility for lost or stolen electronic devices.
One to two initial verbal warnings will be given. Students must comply anytime a request is made by school personnel to cease the use of an electronic device, even before or after school. Any misuse of an electronic device or not adhering to the device code during school hours may result in the device being confiscated, and parent will be responsible for picking up the items from the school site administrator.
