School Site Council

  • SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL

At Providencia, the School Site Council is an integral part of the parent/teacher relationship. The Council is composed of school employees (the Principal, one other school representative, and two classroom teachers) and parents or community members. Meetings are held virtually every other month at 3:00 pm.

What is School Site Council and why is it important?
The primary task of our Site Council is to ensure that the school is continually engaged in identifying and implementing curriculum and instructional practices that address state content standards and academic performance objectives. At meetings, the Principal will typically update the other council members about how the school is doing in these areas.

Budgetary matters are also included and voted on during Site Council meetings. This includes discussion and decisions about how site funds and grant monies are allocated.

An active, positive and effective SSC affords an opportunity for community members and site personnel to work together to improve our school. Each member gains valuable knowledge about how the school is organized and managed as well as how they can work together to enrich the school experience of all students at Providencia.
