• Dear Families,

It is with great joy that I welcome you to Providencia Elementary School! We are a small school of approximately 410 students with dedicated teachers and staff who provide a high quality academic program and a safe and caring school environment. We are a Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) school where we teach and expect students to be Peacebuilders, who Act Safely, Work Scholarly and Show Respect. We love to connect with each and every student and partner with families to create a positive school experience!

Being a CA Distinguished School and Title I Achievement Awardee, our staff members are known for their steadfast commitment to work with students and alongside our families to meet their needs. We use student assessments to drive our rigorous instructional program that is aligned with the CA Common Core State Standards. In addition to providing response to intervention (RTI), we use researched-based high leverage practices to help your child meet and/or exceed grade level standards.

This year we launched our Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Lab where students are engaged in hands-on, project-based learning. They created 3D structures, coding and built simple machines, just to name a few! We also have a comprehensive TK-5 weekly music program (orchestra for 4th and 5th) and our students also receive physical education (PE) and weekly visits to the school library!

We value and respect Providencia’s diverse student body and it is with great pride that we have culturally-responsive curriculum to reflect our diversity. We have curated diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) libraries in every classroom, grant-funded cultural assemblies and we celebrate heritage and neurodiversity every month. We also invite parents and community members to participate in monthly Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), School Site Council (SSC), Coffee with the Principal and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Meetings.

We have an active parent community and we appreciate our volunteers who help out in the classrooms, chaperone on field trips and host exciting events and programs throughout the school year. Our most successful PTA events include the Reflections Art Contest, Book Fairs, Trunk-or-Treat, Donuts with Dear Ones, Spring Carnival, Variety Show and most recently, the Apex Fun Run. Our students, staff and community also look forward to our annual Halloween Parade, Winter and Spring Concerts in partnership with Education Through Music-Los Angeles (ETM-LA), our Spring Dance with Garri Dance Studio. We have so many opportunities for students to receive a well-rounded education!

As principal I am privileged to serve such an amazing school where we strive to ensure students are academically and socially-emotionally successful! Thank you in advance for being involved in your child’s education and I look forward to serving your family!

    Respectfully,
    Kennelyn Celeste
    Principal
