5th Grade Promotion Virtual Ceremony

  • Good morning,

It's a Burbank tradition that on the Wednesday (of the last week of school) at 9:00 am, we would all be getting ready to have our annual 5th grade promotion from George Washington Elementary School.  The parking lot would be extra full of cars and our 5th graders would be dressed up in their very best outfits looking beautiful and handsome.  This has been my ritual for the past six years.  Unfortunately, today, we cannot physically be together due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. However, for the last 5 weeks, the 5th grade teaching team (Ms. Hernandez, Mr. Michels, Mrs. Balboa, Ms. Gal, Mrs. Ivankovic and Mrs. Farmer) as well as Matt Johnson, our extraordinary Technology Assistant, have put together a lovely virtual 5th grade promotion for our students and families. I would also like to thank Miss Laura Hernandez, our amazing and talented ASL interpreter, for signing all verbal communication in order for our deaf and hard of hearing students and families to have equal access to this year's promotion.

The silver lining in all of this is that we would not be able to show this to other families within our school because we cannot physically fit that many people in our auditorium.  However, due to the situation we are faced with, you all can be a part of this celebration.  Please sit back and celebrate the promoting 5th grade class of 2020 from George Washington Elementary School!
