Burbank High School opened its doors on September 14, 1908 with 42 students, one teacher and one principal.  One hundred years later, Burbank High School proudly serves over 2,700 students with a staff of almost 200, including 110 teachers.  We offer a full range of academic courses that include Honors and Advanced Placement classes, meet the rigorous “a-g” UC requirements, and prepare students for success beyond high school.  Our co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and programs compliment our high quality academic program.  Our national award winning Vocal Music Program, CIF recognized sports, Drama, Instrumental Music, and Academic Decathlon are among the many student programs that bring pride to our school.  Burbank High School students excel in the classroom, in the arts and in athletics.

Our Academic Performance Index (API) score has risen steadily over the past six years and is currently 761.  We recently received a six year WASC accreditation with a three year review.  This is the second highest accreditation WASC gives, and the highest that BHS has ever received.  BHS staff and students demonstrate a sincere desire to pursue academic excellence.

Approximately 35% of our Seniors completed the University of California “a-g” requirements for admission to college.  We had a record number of students admitted to UCLA and had students gain entrance to other colleges and universities such as:  Yale, Stanford, Berkeley, USC, every one of the CSUs, Harvard, MIT, and many others.  Our graduates are prepared to meet the challenges of higher education and to become productive members of society.

This is Burbank High School’s Centennial.  This year, we celebrate 100 years of PRIDE (our motto) and excellence.  From September 11-14, 2008 we will be hosting several events to commemorate the Centennial.  We have published a hard bound, coffee table style book that captures the history and flavor of Burbank High over the past century.  We have also created a website where you can access all the information regarding the Centennial:  www.burbankhigh100.com .  Please visit the site, join us if you are an alum or parent of an alum, or interested community member.

Our colors are blue and white, our mascot is the bulldog, and our motto is “PRIDE”.  Over 30 student led clubs and organizations, including HOPE. (Helping Other People Eat), Key Club, Mock Trial and others, engage students in positive activities that further their interests and serve the community.

Our teachers and staff are committed to providing the highest quality educational experience for each student.  We continue to make progress in academics, athletics, visual and performing arts, and career and technical education.  We have invested a significant amount of time and resources into establishing and maintaining a safe and orderly campus.  We welcome your involvement and participation in your child’s education.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Go Bulldogs!
