It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the Providencia Elementary School Web Site. I have a strong commitment to the strengths which exist at Providencia:
- a culturally diverse student body, - a highly dedicated staff, - strong parental involvement, - community support programs, and - a safe environment that is conducive to student learning. These are the hallmarks of Providencia's tradition of excellence. The Providencia School staff continually works with parents and students to assure that each student's educational program is individualized to meet his/her needs. Student data drive our rigorous academic program so that all students may work to meet grade level standards. Researched based practices are implemented to assure student success. Staff and parents evaluate and revise the school plan to provide a dynamic plan, which allows for technological advances as we move into the 21st century. We have a strong community partnership program with Disney Studios, Warner Bros., Costco, Mervyns and other small businesses. I invite all parents and community members to become actively involved in the education of our children. Together we make a difference! | |

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
At Providencia there is never a dull moment! Nestled in the Northwest corner of Burbank, between the bustling Burbank Airport and a small residential area, Providencia Elementary School proudly services 523 students. Our school community is rich in cultural diversity. Our staff is a dynamic group of dedicated professionals who champion innovation and risk-taking while adhering to standards set by the state and district. Our vision is for all students to become life long learners. Extensive collaboration and articulation about the learning process has increased our ability to meet the needs of our students and has resulted in exciting new programs, such as our Extended Day Kindergarten. Summer Workshop Committees have developed ways to positively impact our diverse population; committee outcomes have included such innovative programs as Literature Week, Multiculture Week, History Day, Career Day, and our Science Fair. Providencia maintains a close alliance with parents, members of the community, and local industry through on-going partnerships, Providencia is proud of its freshly painted school, thanks to parent volunteers and a partnership with L.A. Works. Annual events, such as hosting our Community Read-In, "Environmentality Day" with The Walt Disney company, and Technology PAC RAT Nights, bring exciting learning experiences, as well as support for our school. Providencia is proud to be on the cutting edge of technology, being the first school in the Burbank Unified School District to be linked to the Internet and the World Wide Web. After receiving a SB 1510 Technology Grant, we expanded our Technology program by involving families in multiple evening workshops. | |
