Welcome to Thomas Edison Elementary School, a wonderful place to grow and learn. Edison lies in the heart of a great residential community in Burbank California and serves about 560 children, kindergarten through fifth grade. All kindergarten through third grade classes enjoy a student/teacher ratio of 20:1. In addition, first and second grade classes have a divided opening so that smaller groups can be given a solid foundation in reading. Our sixty-year old beautifully modernized campus also houses a state preschool and two after school childcare programs.

Edison was named a California Distinguished School in 1998. The school has a reputation for excellent academic preparation and unique enrichment opportunities for children. A wonderful and well-trained staff provides a rigorous standards-based curriculum which prepares all students to be successful. A vast array of parent volunteers supports the teaching staff in many ways: preparing materials, tutoring, facilitating small group activities, and planning and organizing special events.

Edison students are well behaved and demonstrate respect for each other and for the adults who are assisting them on their educational journey. Many special learning opportunities are available for our awesome students: English Language Development, Gifted and Talented, Special Education programs, formal music instruction for all students, after school chorus for 4th and 5th graders, Outdoor Science School for 5th graders, Student Council, computer lab, Science Olympiad, Destination Imagination, and Chess, Computer and Library Clubs.

Come and visit our exemplary school. After all, together we make a difference.
